What is the difference between the AES and the Blowfish encryption method?

The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption method is a block cipher adopted as an encryption standard by the U.S. Government.

AES is one of the most utilized encryption methods worldwide. AES is very fast, easy to implement, and uses very little memory. Blowfish is another extremely fast block cipher. Although it takes up more memory than the AES method, some argue the security benefits at higher key sizes are greater.  Both of these methods are not subject to any patents and therefore are open for anyone to see and use.
