Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)
AES is a NIST approved encryption standard, a US government standard used across the world.
Rijndael, a block cipher designed by Joan Daemen and Vincent Rijmen that has 16-byte blocks and can operate with 128, 192, or 256-bit keys, was chosen as the new AES in October 2000. Read more at Wikipedia.
